What does 'Kindlers of the Sacred Rhythm' mean?

Sacred. We believe there is that which is sacred in the Universe, whether you call it the Divine, the First Cause, God, Goddess, or Fido. We tend to call it Spirit. Our foremost goal is for our members to realize and achieve connection with Spirit.

Rhythm. There is a fundamental rhyhm that enlivens Spirit and us all. The very molecules, atoms and quarks that make up the Universe vibrate to this rhythm. So do we, when the cacophony of mundane concerns aren't distracting us or preventing us from hearing it. Through ritual and intense ecstatic experience we break free of everyday distraction, so we may re-open our ears and our hearts to the rhythm of Spirit.

Kindlers. Reconnecting to our natural rhythm, our natural affinity with Spirit is re-established. Our authentic self is re-awakened. Our intention is re-focused. Our passion for living is re-kindled.

Kindlers. So nice we have to say it twice. Emphasis on the plural this time. We come together to share our ideas and experiences, to foster our mutual connection with Spirit, to explore and rekindle our passions, and to celebrate community with others of like belief and experience.

Our Vision

Kindlers – Experiencing Spirit through Ordeal

The members of Kindlers of the Sacred Rhythm are Pagans who practice the Magik of the Ordeal Path. Using intense physical stimulation to create altered states of awareness and our intention to guide us deeper, we explore approaching Spirit through the ecstasy created by our ordeal. Because of the nature of our practices, most of our members are also part of the local BDSM community. For many of us, it has been our involvement in the community of BDSM practitioners which gave us the chance to glimpse Spirit in our play and inspired us to explore deeper.

At the core of our practice is a belief that the experience of Spirit is deeply personal that creates an ecstatic state of awareness. To know God is to know Bliss. We also believe that any act which creates an ecstatic state of awareness is a tool which can be used to connect an individual to Spirit through their experience of ecstasy. All acts of love and beauty are rituals to the Goddess. Most of our practices are physically oriented and our rituals reflect this by having decidedly physical and experiential components to develop understandings of spiritual concepts.

We believe that each individual has their own path to Spirit and calling from Spirit. In our teachings, there is a consistent returning to one’s own perceptions and experiences. As we can only know what we experience, we work to learn about how we experience the world of our senses. Through knowing our senses we open up to the guidance of Spirit through the intuition our senses provide us. This also helps us to know the difference between different states of awareness which are created by intention and action.

All this requires that members be willing to think and work for their own understanding. The ability of the individual to think for themselves is a key to the Ordeal Path. Every step on this path asks the question, “Do I continue?” Only the traveler can answer this question. To do so they must know their own mind and intention. Each time a traveler answers this simple question new insight is gained that must be digested and integrated.

Coming Together

We come together each month to share our experiences and practice with each other. Through physical experiences we connect to ourselves, each other and to Spirit. Through our BDSM practices we free ourselves of our normal states of awareness and enter the realm of the Gods.

As we are always exploring our path, we are always teaching and learning. Our members form a broad spectrum of experience from novice to seasoned adventurers. We learn from hearing the experiences of others and relating our experiences to others. We also return frequently to the basics of Magikal practice to deepen our roots as we re-examine what we know through the lens of our current experiences.

Together we explore the path that Spirit calls us to follow. We venture down the dark road that our ancestors took when they stepped away from the fire to enter the cave or the dark forest. We risk confronting our fears, finding our limits and trusting each other to take the leap of faith that Spirit asks. When we do, we find Spirit, our bliss, our selves.

We are the people that your priestess warned you about!
